There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the right option for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery needs to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, so as to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, older units would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely occur.
Tower cranes enable the construction industry to build several amazing structures. These cranes have been used to reach ever-increasing heights. Tower cranes offer the way to move and lift building parts, supplies and tools all over a construction location. There are various components that assemble a tower crane once they are put together. Putting a tower crane together utilizes various pieces of construction machinery.
Base
The base of a tower crane is typically made from a steel unit. The units' base connects to a custom pad made of concrete. This kind of set-up gives the structure stability. Overall, the construction needs to be engineered and built well in order to operate at optimum safety.
Mast
The tower cranes mast provides height to the machinery. The mast is made of attached steel sections. The amount of parts determines the height of the crane. Typically, a tower crane has a design that enables the mast to grow during construction by adding more parts as the building process goes on. This way the height of the crane could be specified, ensuring it has adequate height to carry out the required work safely and efficiently.
Slewing Unit/Top Climber
At the top of the mast is the slewing unit. It houses the motor and machines that allows the crane to rotate. A top climber is the piece of machinery that allows the mast to grow. The top climber is situated just underneath the slewing unit. Hydraulic rams inside the top climber allow the slewing unit to be detached from the mast by raising it higher.
Boom
The term "boom", refers to the tower crane's working arm. The boom is made up of individual steel parts that are connected together, extending out from the top of the slewing unit and parallel to the ground. There is a trolley attached to the bottom which can extend the length of the boom. This particular trolley has the hoisting mechanism.
